-
Children who are born prematurely as well as those babies who are considered small for their gestational age at birth are qualified to receive Social Security, SSI benefits.
-
Keep a camera in the NICU so you or your baby’s nurse can capture those special unpredictable moments.
-
Keep a journal of all that is going on with your baby, what the doctors say and more. We have developed a journal that will help you and make it easier for you to record these events. All proceeds from the journal go to the Christopher Joseph Concha Foundation.
-
When things become overwhelming insist on a parent meeting with your baby’s doctors and primary nurse. If your baby has specialty doctors, do not be afraid to ask for a meeting with all the doctors together. This will guarantee everyone is on the same page.
-
It can be helpful to have a family member or a trusted friend with you when speaking with doctors. This will provide additional support, as well as, a much needed extra set of ears. These meetings can be overwhelming and toss out much infomation.
-
Develop a message board on the computer that your family and friends can go to, so you are not bombarded with phone calls and e-mails .
-
Bring in a mirror so when you kangaroo you can see your baby while you are holding him/her.
